Just about everyone seems to have a tablet these days and many students are tending to use them for school in place of laptops because they are smaller and easier to use. This is especially true if they are using one to read their textbooks instead of large heavy physical copies. For the most part, a full laptop or desktop computer is the best option for those going back to school. Over the past year though, a lot of improvements have been made to tablets. This is especially true of tablets running Windows that make them function much more like a traditional laptop only without the keyboard. Even if a student has a laptop, a tablet can be an excellent secondary device that can be used for taking notes, as a second screen when doing research or communicating with other students. It is that time again as Summer break for many students is ending and the Back to School sales start up. In the next few months, schools will start back up and students need to be prepared. A critical part of education these days is computers. They are used to communicate with teachers and classmates, research and write papers and do presentations. Why The $1099 iMac Is Not Well Suited For Students
Apple recently announced a new $1099 version of the 21.5-inch iMac desktop computer system. This is roughly $200 less than the previous model and the release was likely timed to capture sales during the summer for the back-to-school shoppers. While the price drop is certainly nice and makes it more competitively priced against Windows based systems, I think it misses the mark in terms of the back-to-school crowd. While externally, the system looks no different than the other 21.5-inch iMac models, they made some pretty drastic changes to the internals in order to reduce the cost. Continue reading
